Coronavirus Update – Telephone Triage

Due to coronavirus we are having to reconsider how we work to keep all of our patients and staff safe. We will now triage requests for appointments to minimise face to face consultations by offering telephone appointments.

As online booking has been temporarily disabled our telephone lines will be busier than usual so please consider if a phone call to the surgery is truly necessary.

Current guidelines from Public Health England is that anyone with a fever exceeding 37.8 degrees (or anyone who feels they have a fever) with a new, continuous cough needs to self isolate for seven days in case they have Coronavirus. They do not need to ring a GP or NHS 111 and they can self-certify.

Please note that GPs do not have access to Coronavirus testing kits and patients will not be swabbed unless unwell enough to be admitted to hospital.

The guidance is that if patients become unwell during self isolation they should ring NHS 111 not the GP surgery for advice who can arrange care in the community for you.
