Downland Practice COVID-19 Update

LATEST COVID-19 UPDATE 23/11/2020: The GP Partners are constantly reviewing the changing COVID-19 situation, and in line with NHS England and government guidance, are planning for how our services might look going forward.

The practice will be closed between 09:00 and 09:30 every other Monday for staff briefing.

If you have a non-urgent query, please contact our team online. If you need an appointment with your GP or a nurse, please call our team on 01635 248251 option 1. If your issue is medically urgent, you must call BEFORE 12:30. After 12:30, there are no routine appointments available. Unless otherwise specified, all GP appointments are conducted with your own GP by telephone. Our team will advise you at point of booking of any special instructions regarding your appointment. Please see the ‘Appointments’ section of our frequently asked questions (FAQs) page for more information.

If you need to contact our team by telephone, please note that telephone waiting times are currently longer than usual. Peak telephone times are usually (but not limited to) Mondays, and mornings before 11am. Queuing times can often be shorter outside of these times. Please click here for more information. Thank you for your patience.

For the ongoing safety of patients and staff, the following measures have been put in place:

  • You must NOT visit either of the practice sites or the pharmacy if you or anyone else in your household are experiencing any symptoms of coronavirus, or if you have been instructed to isolate by the Test and Trace service.
  • Please limit visits to the practice. You can find information on our frequently asked questions (FAQs) page, access resources and additional information in our COVID-19 Support Room, and contact our team via the website or telephone.
  • If you need to visit either Chieveley or Compton Surgery, please attend alone (where possible), wear a face covering, and follow signs on the doors. Please note that all entry to both sites is subject to routine screening, including a non-invasive temperature check.
  • If you have a face to face appointment at either Chieveley or Compton, please wait outside or in your car at your appointment time (unless you have been instructed otherwise by a member of staff). The clinician will collect you from the car park.

Be aware of scams. Genuine NHS call handlers for both the COVID-19 testing and ‘Test and Trace’ (contact tracing) services will NEVER ask you for money, your bank details, or any of your personal passwords or PIN numbers. These are free NHS services. If you are unsure, please visit the government website for advice on how NHS Test and Trace works.

On behalf of the GP Partners, thank you for your patience and ongoing support.
