Pharmacy & Self-Care
Your pharmacy can advise you on minor illness and contraception advice without the need of an appointment and can prescribe medication for 7 common illnesses and the oral contraception pill. Please speak to a pharmacist first.
Pharmacy First
From 31st Janurary 2024 you can now attend the 'Pharmacy First' for 7 common conditions. The pharmacy team will be able to assess your condition and offer treatment and some prescription medicines if required.

Home visits are reserved for patients who are unwell and housebound. Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients in the surgery.
If you are unsure whether you need to see a doctor or nurse please ask reception for assistance.

Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)
You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Out of Hours
Enhanced Access
We provide surgeries outside normal hours:
- Two late evenings a week – Tuesday and Thursday (to 8pm)
- One Saturday morning a month (8am to 12pm Noon)
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself – for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention

There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.

You are very welcome to be accompanied by a trusted friend or relative at your consultation if you wish.
